Q: Dr. Moondust, what’s that extra step you take in your pre-mask preparation that you recommend as a layer of added protection when donning a face mask in these times of Covid19?
DR. MOONDUST:
Before I even put on my mask, I put a layer of Skin Protector Plus (SPP) from the Moondust skin care line on my face. There are a couple of reasons I do this.
- One is the obvious one which is sun protection.
- The other is that you’ll have some zinc absorption taking place around the mouth and nose, which are the most vulnerable areas for virus infection to get into the body.
The reason you want that is that, research suggests zinc is actually lethal to the novel coronavirus – it inhibits its replication, so you want some zinc absorption taking place in your body.
- Finally, you’ve probably seen those unattractive lines you can get on your face from wearing masks. Our gentle skin care formula in SPP will help prevent that.
